Glaucoma Disease Causes
Defining what is Glaucoma:
Glaucoma is generally known as one of the main causes of blindness for many people around the world. The disease is caused primarily by progressive optic nerve damage brought by pressure on the optic nerve, the nerve that transmits messages to the brain to interpret as vision or images.
Glaucoma is a form of disease that is subtle in formation or development. The symptoms cannot be detected easily until such time that the person experience subsequent loss of side vision or peripheral vision that commonly results to what they call as dim light glaucoma or darkness glaucoma.
Glaucoma Disease Causes: There are mainly two types of glaucoma and that is the primary-open angle glaucoma and the acute or closed-angle glaucoma. Primary angle glaucoma is known to develop due to poor drainage mechanism of the eye that eventually starts to clog. This happens even if the drainage angle is open. On the other hand, the closed-angle glaucoma is the less common form of glaucoma for people in the Western countries but has a higher incidence in Asian countries.
Most Common Causes:
-Age related factor of 40-to-60 for the general population -Strong Family History - Increased or decreased in the intraocular pressure -History myopia or nearsightedness -History of diabetes
-Elevated blood pressure -Congenitally has unhealthy optic nerve -Dispersion of pigment granules or Pigmentary glaucoma
Other Related Causes: -Trauma to the eye or injury - Use of corticosteroids -Use of antidepressants -Stress
Glaucoma Treatment and Prevention:
Glaucoma if detected earlier could be treated to prevent total blindness. If one is at high-risk of having glaucoma, one should follow preventive measures to avoid risks. For those who are diagnosed with glaucoma, the possible treatment options include use of glaucoma medications and eye drops, filtration surgery and even corrective eye laser surgery.
Preventive measures that one can follow include having regular eye exams, having a healthy diet, avoiding serious eye injury and even maintaining the normal blood pressure. Glaucoma should not be left unchecked, by having healthy lifestyle and proper medical attention, one can do something to fight the disease.
At present, there are more and more persons who suffer from optic nerve damage which we formally known as glaucoma. Many people are finding their best to find out and sort out the remedy for stress glaucoma. They have been well informed that this disease is one of the main causes of blindness vision.
Primary open-angle glaucoma is one subset of the glaucoma disease. It is characterized by open anterior chamber angles, visual field abnormalities, and intraocular pressure. In addition to this, pressure on the optic nerve may be enhanced which may cause the loss of it. One of its inherited type is the Pigmentary glaucoma. The dispersion of pigment granules threatens the symptoms of glaucoma.
It is very important that people must know the Glaucoma Disease Causes. It is not only common to the black but even to some people of all races. The darkness glaucoma and dim light glaucoma will be experienced by any person.
You can never tell if you will be able to have it because sometimes, it has no symptoms at all. When the optic nerve is damaged and side vision is lost, it is when you are at risk of glaucoma. The presence of glaucoma antidepressants may be of help. Studies show that some antidepressants are some of the glaucoma causes.
People must take the necessary effort to prevent glaucoma from harming their vision. Our vision is very much important to our daily life, so we should be careful at all times. Darkness would be ours if we are not ready to take eye exams as soon as possible. We must love our vision for it is the only way that we may be able to perform our tasks and pursue with our goals in life. Let us free ourselves from glaucoma risk!
